Not Abandoning This, Just On A Break
It's not that I'm not wanting to lose the weight, it's really just that life has gotten a bit hectic and some stuff that I can't talk about is happening. I promise to come back to this as soon as I can.

So, Not A Lot Of Weight Loss Going On Here
Life kind of exploded on me. I hate when that happens. But the best laid plans are what amuses God the most, so hey, at least I'm making someone laugh.
Yeah, so my grandma was in the hospital and I was going down the mountain twice a week to visit her. It meant things like eating well and exercising were kind of pushed aside. The rest of the week, I was trying to get done that which I normally do on the days I was gone. On top of all that, the Grouchy Old Man works for a Federal government agency and since Congress decided to shut down the government and behave like children, I've had him home too. Not that I've minded having him home, the last few days have been a trial. On the plus side my kitchen remodel is getting done and man does it look good. But like I said, some things have been pushed aside. I know things will get back on track but in the meantime, my weight loss has been overtaken by events.
That said, I'm hoping to get back into a routine starting on Sunday. Today is bad cause I'm not actually home. (Yes, I finally figured out how to schedule an update) Tomorrow is bad because it's the day of my sweet Grandma's funeral. Yeah we lost her a week ago today. Good reason to stay busy, huh?
So Sunday is my day to get back into a routine and get stuff done. Including exercise.
So by next Friday I should have a lot of updating to do.
In the meantime, go do something outside!

I Was Going To Delay This Post But...
The alarm went off this morning and I really wanted to stay in bed. In fact, I nearly did. Then I remembered Music Man and I had decided last night that we'd go early this morning and refill our 5 gallon water bottles. So out of bed I jumped, quickly pulled myself together and raced out into the morning with my loving husband to bring 15 gallons of water to my loving family.
Sounds good, right?
What actually happened is I stumbled out of bed when I remembered we'd put off the water run, grabbed my clothes and headed to the bathroom. We got out of the house pretty quickly but it took forever to get the water and we stopped for oil for the car which just ran us further behind. Poor Music Man left late and has been awfully quiet since he left. Hope his morning is going better now but I sadly doubt it, judging by the number of phone calls he was getting while we ran our errand this morning.
So this week has been full of challenges. I did walk on Tuesday. Wednesday I opted to do yoga instead. Yesterday I had a test and had to leave the house early so I didn't get to do either in the morning. I spent all day in the city down the mountain from me. I passed my test, more on that on my schooling blog next Wednesday. Then I went and saw my grandmother who is in the hospital. I'll update about that on Monday on life blog.
So today, I'm enjoying what I hope is a relatively stress-free day. I plan to paint my toenails, IM with my best friend and just relax my mind. Maybe even do some laundry. Music Man wants me to do some yoga, but I'm still a bit sore from Wednesday so we'll see if that happens.
I'll update my weight tracker tomorrow. I ate before I remembered to weigh myself this morning, so it will have to wait.
Have a great week and go be active!

Where To Start With This Past Week
Okay, I'm going to skip the first couple of weeks that I missed and just jump headfirst into this past week. We'll just pretend I posted fascinating information and that all was good and happy.
I'll give you a moment to go to La-La-Land and then come back.
*humming to myself
Oh hi! How are you? Me? Oh, it's been an interesting week. Let me catch you up.
With some amazing help from my family and friends, I managed to meet my fundraising goal and submitted my RSVP to go to the Night of Writing Dangerously. I'm really excited about this and looking so forward to it. What you may or may not know is I started fundraising in July. I didn't really do much with it, mostly just posted once to facebook and sent a couple of people an email telling them about it. I wanted to go but I was terrified. So I sort of half-assed it.
See by not really doing much with the fundraising, I could let myself off the hook as far as losing weight too. So I was really doing twice the damage. Then I was contacted by a relative who asked about the fundraising thing. I said I was still doing it and still needed over $200. He told me he had to wait on a couple of invoices but after they came in, would I be able to come up with half of what I needed. Music Man had already pledged to help me meet my goal. I told my relative I would be able to.
That got me to thinking though and there were a couple of people who I knew usually donate to this sort of thing when they see it but I hadn't heard from them. I thought to myself, "what's it going to hurt to post it on facebook one more time?"
I hate asking for things like this. It feels like such an imposition. I posted anyway and the response blew my mind. Within a few hours I had $155 in donations from 3 people. Two of whom had missed my previous post and one of whom just felt like she needed to help as much as she could. When Music Man got home, I told him about the donations and happily said, "I only need $70 and my relative had offered half of whatever I still needed." Music Man smiled at me and told me he was proud of me, he knew how hard this was.
A little later in the evening, I got an email. My fundraising goal was complete. I had raised everything and could now submit an RSVP. I was so happy and excited, I cried.
Then I realized, oh shoot, I haven't been serious about the weight loss thing. In that moment, I made a choice. I chose to make a change in my life. I chose to get healthy and start exercising. Not for an event, not for my husband and daughter, but for me. So I don't have to hide from the world anymore. So I can't use my weight as an excuse to not go to things like this anymore.
So this week brought bad news and good news. The bad news is I gained 10 lbs in the last two weeks. Part of it is time of the month and normal bloating issues. Part of it is I haven't had nearly enough water the last few days as I haven't wanted to have to use the restroom since the park I live in is supposed to be making a repair to a water line and they'll have to shut the water off for 3 hours to make the repair. I've decided I don't care, I'll drink my water anyway and deal with any consequences as they come. The water hasn't gone off in the previous two days and I doubt it will today. If it does, I'll deal with it.
The good news is, besides making the decision to change my habits, I started walking. I did two laps around the park on Wednesday, three laps on Thursday and four laps today. Miss Goofy, who I am now calling the Evil Taskmaster, is acting as my personal trainer. For whatever reason, we had it in our heads that one lap was a quarter mile. So I was feeling pretty good. I'd done a half mile, three quarters of a mile and then did a full mile today. I felt like I was on top of the world. Then this morning, Music Man said, "Yeah, I don't think it's a quarter mile." I suggested we go clock it. He agreed but he was grinning so I knew something was up. We took the car and did one lap in the car. He drove and we kept an eye on the odometer.
Sure enough, one lap is not a quarter mile. It's nearly six tenths. And by nearly I mean short by like 2 or 3 houses down the street. So on Wednesday I actually did 1.2 miles, I did 1.8 miles on Thursday, and today I actually walked 2.4 miles. All together this week I've walked 5.4 miles. It's between 323 and 340 miles from my house to where the event is scheduled. I'm going to start keeping track and try to walk that far by the event in November. Should be interesting.
Have a great week and I'll talk to you next week! :)

The Post I've Been Meaning To Write
Okay, I've been meaning to put this up for 3 weeks now.
I'm trying to lose 40 pounds by November 17th. See I have an event I plan to go to but I want to be quite a bit slimmer when I do.
So this is where I plan to keep myself on track and post how I'm doing. I'm going to add a tracker at the top of this page so we can keep track together. I'd really love to keep going beyond my event, but we'll tackle it one day at a time.
In the meanwhile, I'll start posting more often, I really miss blogging. For more details on my event, see my other blog: My Life Blog, or to read about my latest adventures in education: My School Career.
So I'm going to try to update this on Friday, at the very least to update my weight tracker. Let's hope I can stay on top of this.
