Yeah, I'm horrible about updating this.
That's about to change though cause Music Man was diagnosed with diabetes so we're back to eating better and exercising. Funny how that happens.
I've started tracking what I eat with Weight Watchers. I had my first meeting yesterday and if I've put anything in here about it then I actually made it to my meeting.
Did not make it to Weight Watchers. I did make it to the gym.
Other than that, we joined at gym at the end of August, we went twice in August and have been everyday so far this month. I know it's only the 4th but still that's huge for us.
I've been walking on a treadmill. The first day I did a half hour. That's 10 activity points for Weight Watchers. The second day I did 40 minutes. That's 13 activity points. I am so freaking proud of myself. I'm trying to drink lots of water and milk, though that's still a bit of a chore for me. The water is, not the milk. I actually like milk since I started drinking milk from a glass container instead of a plastic jug. It tastes way different.
So for food, we've been limiting our carbs, obviously we want those glucose numbers way down for Music Man, but it has meant lowering the carb intake for all of us. Lots of protein for Music Man and tons of veggies. It seems to be working, his numbers have gone from over 300, 344 to be exact when he had lab work done before surgery, and even over 400 one day when he goofed and ate pancakes, down to his after lunch reading today when he was at 167, which is so close to the normal range it's not even funny.
For Music Man, exercise seems to be the biggest ingredient. Lifting weights works wonders for him. Now, I just have to keep my eye on him and make sure he doesn't start having numbers that are too low. Our plan is to get this reversed without him going on insulin. We really want to avoid that if possible.
And in the name of fairness, Miss Goody took a test and her numbers were fine. I got brave and took a test and my numbers were good. A little toward the high end of fine but still in the okay range. Exercise for me is making me feel better too.
I have a Fitbit One, that I've been okay about using but I realized Sunday that if I wear it to the gym, then all my time on the treadmill counts toward my step goal. So after I get used to going to the gym, I'll increase my daily step goal. Today I've hit it. I'm going to try to keep track of my steps each day in the sidebar. We'll see how good I am about tracking it.
Okay, that's the news for this week. Hopefully I'll be back next week with a new update!
Have a great week!
