Itchy Fever

I have had sensitive skin my entire life. I have known I have sensitive skin my entire life. I have fought sensitive skin my entire life. (I swear I have a point.) My mother used to buy baby laundry detergent for me. That's how bad it was.

I finally found a detergent (that's wasn't designed for infants) that doesn't bother my skin. I've used it fairly religiously most of my adult life. It's the only one that doesn't irritate my skin and make me break out in a rash.

When I was in Oklahoma, I could use another brand but I had to be careful. The water there was different. It's something about the water and the soap that gets to me.

Recently, I was shopping at my local discount mart and they didn't have the laundry detergent I normally buy. I was very low on detergent and really needed to get some.  So, the brand I buy but with an additional ingredient was available. I thought to myself, "It's been years. I'm sure it will be fine. You need detergent, this is the same brand. Just get it."

I should have ignored that voice and bought it somewhere else. Or gone back on another day.

It started off simply enough. I felt a little itchy. I live in a very dry climate so that's not unusual. I really need to drink more water and figured it was just dry skin. After a couple of days, I started seeing a rash. Just on my arms at first. Then my legs, my chest, a little on my stomach. Oh and my back. It's been awful.

I realized what had happened and quit using that soap. I've switched back to my regular one. I'm still a little itchy at times though, cause the thing is, once I've broken out, it takes a while to get it out of my system. So here's hoping drinking a ton of water helps cause sweating from a workout, makes the itch neigh on unbearable. Even after I shower.

All of that to say, I gained another .8 of a pound and I haven't been walking or wearing my Fitbit, cause it sits right on a particularly itchy spot and irritates it even more.

So, I'm updating my step count, but it's not going to be very high and that's the reason why. I'm hoping this week to be able to walk more. We'll see.

Have a great week and drink plenty of water!
